There is no way Clark can defeat Powell.  Powell would win since he can pull Democratic votes.  Clark cannot pull Republican votes.

I would think that Powell carries Colorado and New Mexico as well.  I don't see Clark having any significant pull in those areas which would trump Powell's reputation.
