1. Everyone is alone before God.

6. Better to have a few that are reliable than to have a great many that are distractible and indifferent.
7. To an American, the word "Harvard" means one thing only: Decline.
8. Friendly relationships are dangerous. They lend themselves to ambiguities, misunderstandings, and conflicts, and they always end badly.
9. I will never get over my aversion to those who are just passing through.
10. The pain of liberation is unbearable
