I want to sign up as Brandenburg-Prussia, but I don’t want to distract from your main theater.
You can sign up as Puppet Urban or Saxony

You can have Charles. I'd rather be a lesser Royalist figure if possible.

You can still join us as either Pope Urban VIII or James Butler, 1st Duke of Ormond.
I'll take Butler. I want to start with something simple. I have a history of being forced to drop out of these projects early due to real life obligations and I won't allow my departure to throw the game into chaos Tongue

Great! Glad to have you. I will write you in for the start of next turn.

I want to sign up as Brandenburg-Prussia, but I don’t want to distract from your main theater.

Unfortunately, there have already been several IG actions taken that would make if unfair for you to join as Prince-Elector William Frederick of Brandenburg-Prussia at this point.

I can offer you Pope Urban VIII, Portuguese rebel leader John IV, Duke of Braganza, or William Seymour, Marquess of Hertford and Welsh Royalist leader.

Sure! I'll write you in as Christian IV of Denmark-Norway at the start of the next turn.

I hate to ask this on the first turn, but could I get an extension? I was travelling most of the past 30 hours and so I was unable to do the prerequisite research for good action submission. I would only need another day

Ideally I'd like to have the turn close on Friday, giving me the weekend to simulate and write up, but I only have 1 set of orders in at this point, so I'm open to keeping the turn open until Sunday.

I missed all what's happened because of having really hectic days in RL. I don't want to f**k up your work, DKrol, so I must withdraw. I'm sorry, everyone.

Like others suggested, I think it's best to leave him as an NPC for now.

I don't see how that's a possibility. He's an intergral character in the story and the choices Charles makes can, effectively, decide the course the game takes.

I had considered to sacrifice myself and take Charles, but I've spent a lot of time on research and I wouldn't want that to go to waste...

Perhaps Kingpoleon or ChairmanSanchez could take the role?

I think Kingpoleon would fit Charles quite well.

If Kingpoleon wants Charles, he can have him.

I’d prefer Christian IV or the Scottish Parliamentarians or the Irish Confederation. So if either of those players switched to Charles I, I would prefer to take on one of those two.

That being said, I am rather sick right now with what seems to be a 24-hour stomach bug.

I think, on consideration, NPC Charles would only work in a version of this setting with a different emphasis, on rivalrous bickering courtiers, politicians, soldiers, clerics, poets, noblewomen etc within one country rather than international heads of state all over Europe - a version I'd be interested to try running one day if there was any demand for it!

Though tempted to volunteer a swap up from Montrose if it saves the game - I don't think the Scots Royalists need necessarily be active yet - I don't want to risk not having the time and letting anyone down.

I have moves from almost everyone but, without a Charles I, I can't move on. I'll leave the turn open until Sunday for someone to definitively step forward and say "I will be Charles I, no if, ands, or buts about it" or I'll have to think about the direction of the game.

I was going to suggest Garlan could take over as Charles for this sole turn and buy us a few extra days to find a player, but yes, a King Charles is very much needed.

The turn will end this evening. Dereich has offered to fill in as Charles I for this turn, so the game doesn't get stuck so soon, while we search for a full time Charles I.

Also, can I say that the PLC wasn't involved in the TYW and wasn't a part of the HRE (Prussia wasn't either). The only modern day part of Poland that was in the HRE at the time is Silesia. Just needed to clear it up a bit.
The PLC did try to instigate some intrigues against Sweden, including an alliance with Denmark-Norway, but those never amounted to anything. However, because of reluctance to go to war in the Sejm, Władysław IV was never going to be able to start anything.  For this game, the PLC makes much more sense as an NPC that various players might be able to entice into providing troops, if they provide the funding.
