Wow, I would never have guessed that Trump would have beaten Jeb by that much in a head-to-head in a Southern state, which has proven to be Jeb's strongest region by far this far. Carson's numbers versus Trump are truely impressive. Now, imagine a Carson-Jeb head-to-head lol.

Trump is doing well in the south. Reason being - less educated, poorer whites who are more likely to be disaffected look up to Trump more (I'm generalizing, but it is disproportionate).

Though North Carolina is one of the most/more educated states (lately) - especially so for being in the South - though still not at the Level of Colorado, Massachusetts and some others.

Most of those highly educated folks are either Democrats or they are probably supporting a different Republican.
