Well, this is fairly straightforward. We want to get rid of the names we currently have, because we do not like them and feel they are not properly representative of the duties of the office. Apparently, a bill does not cut it, as evidenced by the Supreme Court's decision on the subject. Oakvale can elaborate if necessary.

What about having a Prime-Minister instead of a SoIA? I'm certain that People would prefer being PMs Tongue

I mean, it's doable, but that'd have to be a whole 'nother thing.

Hold up a second here. The Census bureau is being added to this section of the constitution by this amendment, correct?

Do you mean that this is a new reference to the Census Bureau? The Census Bureau was already mentioned in this part of the constitution.

For some reason I thought it wasn't in there.

Anyway, wouldn't it be wiser just to authorize greater Senate authority regarding the names then to actually change the names with the amendment itself?

Yes, we could do that, but it might make it more difficult to pass.

So, does all of this mean Talleyrand is withdrawing his amendment?

And Yankee, after thinking some more, I think you're right. We should afford ourselves some leeway.

Nay

Yankee's point is that we're essentially making it more difficult for the Senate to regulate the Department of Justice by making it an executive department.

If we want more power to regulate Departments, we should remove all Departments from the constitution and simply have it give the Senate power over them.

Speaking as someone who regrets having written several departments into the Constitution in my less experienced days, I could not agree more. It should be enough to delegate most of these powers to the executive and specify that the President may appoint a Cabinet to carry out these duties on his behalf with the consent of a majority of the Senate.

I would be fine with that.

I would accept such an amendment as friendly if you were to offer it.

So what do we want to do, just carve out the section or include an authority authortization such as what I posted last night?

Nixy baby, what do you think is better?

What would stand a better chance of passage in the Regions?

I would prefer the simple authorization from last night, but I'd like to see what Nix has to say on the matter.

Are we sure this would allow us to rename the Departments? Oakvale?

I PM'd him. If it takes too long, we can just proceed.
