What if Trump ran as a Democrat?

Prologue

Donald Trump blasts lawsuit questioning Obama's eligibility for office
-CNN, 08/28/2008
Quote
Businessman Donald Trump criticized a lawsuit alleging that presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama had lied about his citizenship, which would make him ineligible for President. Trump called the lawsuit "racist slander" and suggested that the story was a fabrication on behalf of the Republican Party to boost John McCain's chances in the general election.

"I mean, you have a guy who is the first African-American to be a nominee, and now you have these people saying that he's not really an American. Well, where were these people when Mike Dukakis was running? He was Greek. I think it's because of the color of his [Obama's] skin, I really do. And it's such a shame because African-Americans have done tremendous things for this country."

Trump endorses Obama on Larry King
-Politico, 09/17/2008
Quote
Donald Trump, the flamboyant New York magnate, said on CNN’s “Larry King Live” on Wednesday night that he is supporting Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) for president.

Trump, never shy with his opinions, went on to say that Obama appears to be winning, but that he would have preferred if Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) were the nominee.

“I don't understand why Hillary wasn't chosen [by the voters],” Trump said. “She was really winning. I have a friend that came to this country and was here for the last four weeks of that whole election. He said: How did she lose? She won every primary? He didn't understand it. But I trust Hillary, she's a good friend of mine, and I trust her judgement. She has tremendous judgement. So I trust Obama. I think a black president would be a great thing for this country."

With regard to Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz) Trump had this to say: “I know John McCain, and John McCain's a great guy, a tremendous guy,” Trump told King. “I've known him for a long time. And I have great knowledge of John McCain, but frankly a little hope and change might just be what this country needs right now. Bush has done a terrible job. I think Obama could do a lot better. I know he'll raise my taxes, but I'm really rich. It won't matter to me.”

Thank god for the electoral college.

Trump 'seriously considering' 2016 bid
-CNN, 12/16/2014
Quote
Once again, Donald Trump claims he's flirting with a run for the White House.

"A lot of people think I have fun with [talking about running for president] and I enjoy the process, but the country is in very serious trouble so I am considering it seriously," the celebrity mogul said at the Economic Club of Washington on Monday night.

Asked when he'll decide, Trump said: "March, April or May."

"I think we need someone very good, very fast, or we'll be in a lot of trouble," Trump said.
He said he'd rather do what he's doing now, but that as far as a run for the presidency goes, "until I see someone I think is outstanding, I'd be inclined to do it."

Since 1988, Trump has famously considered running for president, even saying he'd "strongly consider" running in 2012 if Obama declined to run for a second term.

But Obama did run for re-election, and Trump endorsed his campaign for the second time.

BREAKING: Hillary Clinton hospitalized with pneumonia
-@CNNPolitics

Thank you everyone for your kind words and prayers. I am on the road to recovery, but after a long conversation with my family, advisors, and doctors, I have decided that I cannot in good conscience run for President when my health is at risk. It would not be fair to the American people or myself. I am confident that whoever the voters select will be an excellent nominee.

Rahm Emanuel wouldn't last five minutes in a national primary.

So, when's the inevitable Biden announcement...I mean there's a huge opening for him, with all of those undecided voters.

Biden won’t be running in 2016 due to the unfortunate death of his son Beau, like our timeline. He may have a role in the next administration though.

Lmao this bizarro timeline is genius!

Imagine Trump saying: "When Police Departments hire people, they’re not hiring our best. They’re not hiring you. They’re not hiring you. They’re hiring people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems on us. They’re killing unarmed folks. They’re making warrantless seizures. They’re thugs. And some, I assume, are good people"

"In 1973, I believe, Mr. Trump was sued by the Justice Department for racial discrimination — because he would not rent apartments in one of his developments to African-Americans, and he made sure that the people who worked for him understood that was the policy."
-Bernie Sanders at the Democratic debate, 09/15/2015

"Wrong... we settled the suit with zero, with no admission of guilt. You know why? Because they couldn't find anything. In 1973, that was Richard Nixon's Justice Department. Do you think he's a friend to the African-American community? He's not, he destroyed their community with the War on Drugs. They admitted it years ago, did you know that? This country has left the African-American community behind, and that is going to end when I am President."

"I will do whatever it takes to make sure women have access to abortion in this country. Roe is not going anywhere, okay? And if this Supreme Court says otherwise... well, they're just going to have to go through me. I will protect you no matter what. Back-alley abortions with the coat hangers or a trip to Mexico... do we really want to go back to that? I'm not going to let that happen."
