I cannot describe in words how much Marco Rubio scares me. His speech was excellent; the distortion of facts, the constant half-truths, the warm and fuzzy emotional appeal. If you look into those dark, soulless eyes, it's easy to imagine Senator Rubio in a spiffy black uniform under the stars and stripes (probably with an eagle or a cross added for good measure). Just as the NSDAP started as a few drunk veterans in Munich and Nuremberg, the Tea Party started as a few old men in wigs and petticoats sitting outside the Capitol.
Idk if I'd go that far, but... I caught some of Rubio's response on the radio while driving home, and what kept rolling through my head was Umberto Eco's definition of fascism as "palingenetic ultra-nationalist populism".
