How can you obstruct justice if no crime has been committed?

as castro stated, if you are directly trying to stop an investigation - especially one concerning yourself - instead of just pardoning everyone involved, it doesn't matter why you are stupid enough to do this to start with: it's technically a crime.

ofc this won't lead to trump's impeachment, cause of political majorities, but it could easily be a legit reason.
