The party ID is off a lot in this poll, in the 2016 exit polls, the electorate was +1D, this poll has it at +8D, has there really been such a huge shift in party affiliation in Maine in 4 years, a 7% shift when all other polls like Pew Research show nationally there has been no change in relative party identification.

Maine was D+9 in 2008(cant seem to find any exit polls from 2012 but party i.d is probably similar). If a state goes from Obama +15 to Hillary +3 in 4 years, I'd wager a guess that alot of democrats stopped identifying as such when they voted in 2016. Biden is a better fit for the state, so I could see alot of those independents switching back.
