The thread title makes it seem like quite a few MP's are getting rowdy at Ryan. When in reality, it's merely Jamie Reed, Labour shadow Health minister, and Stephen Dorrell, a Conservative moderate who says he 'doesn't disagree entirely' with Ryan's views and was probably only called on to comment to prevent Labour from making this a partisan issue. Not to mention this has only cropped up at all due to an old article Ryan penned in 2009.

Anyhow, considering the fact that Paul Ryan's budget plan is quite similar to George Osborne's, it would be ridiculous for any Conservative to attack Ryan for his proposals.

Austerity is working out so will for Britain, isn't it.

Fixing the mess left by the last government was never going to be easy.

At least we still have our AAA credit rating.

And apparently you folks never slag off and smear America.

The World slags off and smears America, the UK probably does it the least, par Israel.

If anybody wonders why Britain is no longer a world superpower, please refer to comments of the NHS loving liberals/socialists in this thread.

Fixed.

Hmm, I just want to clarify, if I may, but are you inferring that the National Health Service was behind the end of the British Empire?

Amusingly, Britain chose both - losing the Empire and losing herself.

The process isn't over yet - you'll lose Ireland to the Irish, Scotland to the Scots as well.

The only sad thing about Britain's decline is that they chose it.

Britain did not lose the Empire, it was unsustainable, and was more existent in theory than reality by the 1920's.

Ireland already is Irish. If you mean Ulster, then I very much doubt that anything other than the status-quo will happen there for the next three decades or so. Plus the Stormont Assembly still has a Unionist plurality.

The chances of Scottish independence are around 15%, if that. More likely is a 'devo-max' solution and a federalised Britain, though this won't occur under a Conservative administration.

So, how does Britain choose decline? Seriously. I just don't follow.

The only sad thing about the decline of the United States is that they chose it.
