Of course Americans see the light only after forcing themselves into at least 6 years of Republican Congressional dominance.

Just imagine what they'd be saying right now had Romney won in 2012..

Oh God, Romney and allies would be positively insufferable.

Obama deserves massive credit for the stimulus law. If we had gone the Republican austerity approach—which we wouldn't have, because a Republican President + Republican Congress would have gone full-blown Keynesian more than Obama's stimulus if they were in charge—we'd be in as bad shape as Japan or the EU. This recovery was always going to be slow to recover the ground we lost and now that we've reached our goal, I hope this is remembered as Obama's legacy.
