John F. Parker (R) was the Republican leader in the State Senate in Masssachusetts and former Mayor of Taunton, Massachusetts who wrote a delightful "look at the humorous side of politics" which includes "Over 1,000 jokes, anecdotes and witticisms."
My copy is authographed.
It was published by Doubleday & Company, Inc. in 1978.
One of my favorites, concerns Theodore Hallam, who, when he opposed the nominee of his party for Governor of Kentucky, was asked if he hadn't said before the nomination that if his party would nominate a "yaller dog for Governor" he would support him.
Well, Hallam acknowledged the statement, but replied that while he would support a "yaller dog, lower than that ye shall not drag me."
