For a personally ambitious pol in a one-party state with very rare federal openings... primaries are the only way.

That.

Ask Ed Case.

I'm hoping Hanabusa gets smashed like Ed Case.

Thankfully that's not likely to happen, so sucks for you.

Well I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't have any friends if you make them based simply upon their political views.

Do you see my endorsement of Kim as a threat? It's clearly triggered something in you.

People may not know this, but Kim is also pro-choice and used to be a Planned Parenthood official!
She can get the Emily's List endorsement which would help her immensely in the primary.

I wish there was more news in from the First district race. I'm still waiting for Donna Mercado Kim to receive the Emily's List and Planned Parenthood endorsement.

I'd be surprised, they usually only endorse Democrats.

Really, really stupid response.

What Obama just did plays into the image of worry about unimportant things and ignore the important. What a petty and useless endorsement. I know it's unlikely to happen but I hope Hanabusa wins.
How is one of the most high profile senate primaries an "unimportant thing"?

Either way, the candidates are almost the same.

Somebody's a butthurt Hanabusa supporter.

Hanabusa has a better chance than virtually everyone in your signature. And the one who was best placed to win has already lost. So sucks for you, I guess.

I repeat. Somebody's a butthurt Hanabusa supporter. Also, for someone who claims to be a Democrat, you seem to like Republicans winning.

Again, Hanabusa has a better chance of actually winning her race than virtually everyone in your signature does. So that really sucks for you. This is just a fact, and cannot be connected to a notion that I want "Republicans winning".
Good luck to you and your loser candidates.

This is Hifly, he'd rather a Republican win than a Jew.

What on earth!?!?

Oh well I guess Emily's List is staying neutral and not endorsing Mercado Kim. I want another poll of this race.

Not a fan of DINO Mercado Kim. Hopefully Takai can catch up to her.

Same. Anti-gay, anti-public education, pro-Monsanto.

If it looks like a Republican, talks like a Republican, and acts like a Republican, then it's probably a Republican pretending to be a Democrat.

If Djou supports gay marriage he has my endorsement, bar a Green run.

Djou does support gay marriage.

Actually, he does not. He only was pro-DADT, but he was also pro-DOMA.

Looking at his other isssues, I'll probably refuse to endorse him too. It's a shame that one of the most liberal states might have to decide between two Republicans.

Looking at Donna Mercado Kim's website , she seems to be a solid progressive on most issues (or at least on the ones she mentions). Also, the website looks very low-tech, possibly hinting at an underfunded campaign. It may still be possible for a more liberal candidate to sneak through to the nomination.

Mercado Kim is certainly not underfunded.

Emily's List has endorsed Donna Mercado Kim!!!!

Praise The Lord! Praise The Lord!

Is this the first time Emily's List has teamed up with a right-wing Christian Coalition?
