That's what the beagles and the squirrels want you to believe, Lewis.

That people never lived past their 20s/30s/40s in Ye Olden Days (including prehistoric times)... though the life expectancies back in the day were indeed in the 20's and 30's, those are pretty much due to infant mortality; it was not uncommon for people who lived past their 20th birthday to live into their sixties and seventies (especially if they were men who didn't need to deal with childbirth!).  Just take a look at your family tree for evidence.  The people who lived to childbearing age who were your ancestors probably lived a while after that, too.

Also that people were somehow much shorter only 200 years ago.

They were.
Or their feet and inches were longer.

Actually, people were much shorter even fifty years ago.

Here's another question almost everyone will answer incorrectly:

What is the oldest continuously inhabited city still in existence? Almost everyone will answer Rome. Rome was founded around 750 BC. Damascus, Syria is mentioned in the Book of Genesis and by some estimates was founded as early as 8000 BC. Rome isn't even the oldest city in Europe.

Isn't it some where in the Indus Vally?

Baghdad dates to ~750 CE, if I remember correctly.  You want ancient in that neighborhood, Ctesiphon and Babylon are both within walking distance of Baghdad and are much, much more ancient.  Ur and Nineveh are both in Iraq, too.

There are a lot of claimants for oldest city.  The folks at Jericho are pretty insistent about their claim to the title.

BRTD, while I agree that Damascus is overlooked as the oldest city, I disagree that Rome is commonly referred to as the oldest.

I'm pretty sure most people would say Athens or Jerusalem.  Granted, they are both wrong.

It also wouldn't surprise me to hear people chime off some Egyptian city like Cairo even though Cairo was long after ancient Egypt.
