Pretty much everyone you listed is a genius in one way. Even Dave and Dan. They may be total morons when it comes to writing original material, but they're geniuses when it comes to adapting source material. GoT seasons 1-4 were peak television, and their adaptation of The Three Body Problem trilogy has been really good so far (one of the best sci fi shows in a while).

I'll throw a name out there that is (mostly) forgotten in the annals of time:  Giordarno Bruno.

As far I know, the first person to look up at the stars, and correctly postulate that our Sun was really nothing more than just one of those shiny distant dots, and that those distant little dots might harbor Earth-equivalents and muhAliens.

Was eventually executed by the Catholic authorities, simply for being a Renegade of Funk.

Sad!

Write-in- olawakandi

You can just look at some of the available choices and know this is a BRTD thread. Made me think of this scene from Royal Tenebaums-

This reminds me of the nonsense 'Gustavo Cerati is a genius'that it's a bit popular in some LATAM circles.

I am not sure but I know that Ramanujan goes at the top of the list.
