Romney's been very, very good on the campaign trail, too, since the Ryan announcement. It's reminding me why I liked him to begin with.

Agreed. Finally seems content to be himself on he trail.

If you ask me, we have had some successful campaign ads. It is too bad that a lot of them have been outright lies... on both sides of the spectrum.

Obama spent his money too early. According to FirstRead, the ad gap grew to 25 mil to 11 mil this week (all inclusive). It's going to be about 3.5 to one once Romney can spend his post convention money.

5 new ads from Romney's side in the last two days. Excellent.

Sorry, but not as effective as Romney's preemptive strike.

True. But even in the swing states, the crosstabs for many recent polls are still showing that Romney has to make up some ground with Republicans. This ad could very well remind those disaffected GOPers why Obama isn't the man for them.

The question is, will that be enough to counter-balance how this ad resonates with women?

It's setting up the narrative for women that Romney and Ryan are scary males who cannot be trusted, which will be dispelled in the debates. There comes a time when a woman decides that she made a mistake, and it's time to dump her boyfriend. A lot of that will happen among women who supported Obama in 2008, especially if the Obama team keeps blowing up this big bubble that says, "ATTENTION WOMEN! ROMNEY/RYAN = SCARY!" That bubble is going to blow up and really hurt the president's credibility among women.

On average, women are a hell of a lot better than men when it comes to the total package (sans athletics, I suppose). Women secretly let us think that we rule the world, but we are really under their control.

I never once insinuated Obama's policies were a fad. I insinuated that he and his campaign used a very effective strategy in 2008 that partly involved turning Barack Obama into a celebrity. Whether you admit it or not, there was a big bandwagon effect in 2008. It helped Obama. He should be looking to capitalize on that strategy again. After all... it worked.

Obama tried that "changing voice tone at perfect moments with flawless rhetoric" stuff during the 2012 SOTU speech. It did not help him. Besides, the broken promises of 2008 are still broken promises in 2012. Are even young people going to fall again for flowery rhetoric given the lack of job opportunities in the Obama Economy? I may be wrong, but gay marriage is not going to create jobs for young people. Taking resources from Medicare to fund Obamacare is robbing Peter to pay Paul. Unaffordable promises are now known to be unaffordable by most of the population at this point.

All of this reminds of the saying, "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me."

It's decent, but I wish they'd be able to make the "triumphant rise of Romney" parts a little bit less-cheesy in ads like this.

This ad is, of course, a complete lie. The decision it references is one the Obama administration made - at the request of Republican Governors - to set up a system where states can apply for a waiver to figure out better ways to distribute TANF benefits. But the waiver system explicitly says the work requirement cannot be waived, and no waivers have been applied for or approved. So nothing has actually changed.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch, the editorial they cite, have themselves admitted that the claim is not actually true: http://www2.timesdispatch.com/news/2012/aug/20/new-romney-ad-pushes-debunked-claim-against-obama-ar-2142116/

But hey, black man is making welfare easier to get! Vote Romney!

The whole welfare thing has a sickeningly racial undertone. Mitt's running such a lowest common denominator campaign.

The RGA wanted a better way to distribute benefits...
1) Want to bet that they didn't want to change definitions in order to explode the number of people receiving benefits without working?
2) What on earth does pointing out this issue have to do with race?

You have failed in Fact Checking, Logical Thinking, and Race Card playing.  The Trifecta!
