If it's not called marriage, it's not marriage. That said, good to know that gay people have it pretty good in Austria.

Why does it practically matter for LGBTs if it's called "marriage" or not - when their partnership law is now actually superior and more modern than the traditional hetero marriage law ?

Is an Apple iPhone not a good phone just because it's not called "Nokia" ?

because its still something different; which suggests that a relationship between two people of the same sex if somehow different from that between two people of the same sex when it isn't.  If they wanted to do this; why not amend the marriage law to both include these new protections and include same sex couples in it - that would literally be better for everyone!!
