Independents: Notre Dame (8-4); BYU (7-5); UMass (5-7) [hoping for one more upset for them to shock everyone!]; Army (4-8)

I believe that 6 teams is the ideal number for the playoff, with first round byes for the top 2 teams. The purpose of the playoff is to determine the best team, and by the end of the season, there are never 8 teams who could legitimately claim that they are the best. However, we do sometimes have years where 5-6 teams could reasonably make such a claim. If a non-power conference team can build a compelling resume over the course of a season, let them play in the playoff, but I don't think any conference champion ought to be guaranteed a place in the playoff.

It was very classy that at every game in the B1G today they used a coin honoring those two punters. However I still say after the targeting fiasco and how awful the playoff system has been, it's high time to abolish the NCAA and turn college football into a farm team system for the NFL, the same way that minor league baseball and junior/minor league hockey work.
Because what's more exciting than replacing teams with 100+ years of history with obscure franchises that move around every 2 years...

It's kind of hilarious that Navy is ranked ahead of LSU and Wazzu...

So like... how bad is Sparty? Rutgers has a chance at a conference win after all!

Very happy Iowa got the Outback Bowl.  They deserved it over trash Nebraska and their trash schedule.
Iowa's schedule was not that much better than the Huskers'. Iowa obviously deserves the better bowl, but more on results rather than schedule.

So did Ohio State deserve to be in the playoffs? Tongue
Yes. And so did Penn State, who will beat Southern Cal.
