Michigan was amazing in 2008. We voted 57.5% Obama, and legalized medical marijuana carried every county including Ottawa, which voted for it 51/49. We also approved embryonic stem cell research that year, with Macomb Co voting yes as well (alas, Ottawa Co voted against it).

I honestly don't understand the opposition to medical marijuana. Its safe, not addictive, and is used for medical purposes. It makes no sense in the year 2012 for people to oppose it.

I think it's a kneejerk tendency to oppose any 'backdoor' legalisation of drugs.  And it is a logical first step in relaxing laws towards cannabis.
