I don't know if it fits in here, but here's an idea I had but failed to get started.

Create your own airline posting routes, fleets, press releases, and anything else. Hopefully, afterwards it will become a game with airlines fighting for routes, mergers, etc.

If you have any ideas, post them, or start creating airlines (max 3 per person)

Well this sounds really neat. I guess however many people want to play could start out small and begin with a certain set amount of money and then they are able to go from there. I'd be interested in doing it.

I'm a big aviation buff. If it happens, I'm in. Great idea.

On the old SNES game AeroBiz, I was fond of using the name ZephAyr for my airline, which since you were only allowed 7 letters was handy,

I think that FlightSim X has a feature similar to this.

OK, here's some simple rules:

1- Start up with a maximum of 10 planes and 2 domestic destinations max. and 6 international destinations max.

I'll start an example to see if the aforementioned format works well. Not for the purposes of the game yet. I think it should be 6 domestic and 2 international. I'll do both ways to see what would be better.

Scenario 1- 6 domestic, 2 inter
Airline Name: Generic Airways

Fleet: 3 Embraer 170, 3 Airbus A319 and 4 A330

Domestic destinations- New York- Laguardia
Miami
D.C- Dulles
Los Angeles
Chicago
Seattle

International: London
Paris

Scenario 2- 6 inter, 2 domestic

Name: International Air
 Fleet: 3 Boeing 737, 7 Boeing 747

Domestic destinations

NY- JFK
Los Angeles

International
Dublin
London
Toronto
Madrid
Paris
Amsterdam

I prefer no. 1

Well, for airlines based in big countries, such as Russia, US, and Canada, 6 domestic works out well, you could even take your two international and substitute them in for domestic routes (no international routes though). However, if you're playing as Air Guinea-Bissau, 6 domestic is not of much use and then you're better off with 6 international, or once again, 8 if you substitute your two domestic flights as international routes (no domestic routes though), so both are quite good.

Oh, don't forget to check the range of your planes to see if it's possible to fly between those cities. (No ATR-72 between NYC and Moscow...)

I'll be ready to start a sign-up thread later today, then a plane info thread (I'll happily provide ranges and fleet info if needed), then later on a gameplay thread.

Just a bit of advice, if you have all the same type aircraft, it keeps costs down. That's how Southwest makes a profit. They ONLY use 737's

that's true, but only if you're a domestic LCC. That being said, Southwest does do pretty well for itself.

A sign-up thread is to be posted, you have a maximum of two airlines for now.
