Do you really think he can win a primary nowadays with the baggage he's now carrying? (Whether you think the allegations against him are true or not, they can still count as baggage on the campaign trail.)

A poster on this forum of all people should be aware of the truth of the accusations against that guy.

Tina Smith is probably entrenched by the next time she runs for another term. It's fine.

Who said that he should run only for senate?
For all we know he might want to run to be mayor of his middle-sized suburb.

This brings up the interesting point that the lower down the office, the more likely one can cancel out whatever skeletons a candidate may possess by personal connections to a community. In fact it's something that happens more frequently than people would like to admit. But when the idea of the 'community' becomes more nebulous and people lack actual intimate connections, perceptions exponentially matter more, and any scandal has the power to tarnish.

I love Al Franken, but what would he run for?  He's 72, and neither Senate seat should be open in the near future.  Maybe MN Governor in 2026?

There are no term limits in Minnesota and Tim Walz is doing a great job. If Walz does not run for reelection there is a huge list of quality potential candidates including LG Peggy Flanagan who are younger and do not have the baggage of Franken.

LOL, we need younger blood in the senate. The average age is already too high.
