Virginia Republicans are having their convention on Saturday to choose their nominees for Governor, Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General.

Who do they go with?

I feel they will nominate "Trump on heels" for governor, and regret it immediately, since Trumpism is not a good fit for Virginia

I think they'll go for Youngkin, Davis and Miyares. Those are the frontrunners.

1. Youngkin
2. Chase
3. Snyder

4. Cox

No. Counting the ballots will take a few days.

I do wonder if they'll release results on each round of the Ranked Choice Voting. That would be an interesting way to build suspense and interest.

Interesting RCV 5D chess instead of just letting people vote (especially Jewish people that can't vote due to religious reasons).

A convention always requires a majority of the delegates. Typically they would just spend all day at a convention hall instead of doing the ranked choice thing, but this is impossible nowadays.

For all the talk of them doing this specifically to block Amanda Chase, it's a longstanding thing for the VA GOP. About half of the State Central Committee is ideologically opposed to primaries because someone could win with less than half of the vote, and because it would be a open to non-Republicans. Therefore they feel that a primary could never properly represent the will of the Republican Party.

If Amanda Chase doesn't get the nom, will she make good on her promise to run as an independent? Or am I getting the details mixed up about the fit she threw several months back?

I thought she backed down on that idea.

Every one of them is out of touch with Virginia by the virtue of being conservative Republicans in a blue state--you need to be more specific.

I predict it wont be Trump in heels.  Beyond that I don't know.  I see a lot of Youngkin signs in Fairfax.  But Fairfax isn't really a conservative vote bastion.  I hope it's Trump in heels and not a phony moderate businessman.  They might as well put their real ideology on display.  The moderate businessman act isn't fooling anyone.
