A lot of people are angry that they haven't had a real wage increase in 18 years, but that doesn't mean that they will turn to Trump as the solution.
Many will - disproportionately white men. Women and minorities will not.
What could (in theory) happen is that Trump could turn the GOP into a party of working class white males. And then after he loses in a landslide, someone else might come along and turn down the sexism, nativism, and racism, and broaden it into a "worker's party." That would be the interesting scenario. The Republicans could be competitive as an economically liberal, socially moderate-to-slightly-right party, against the Democrats as a socially liberal, economically moderate-to-slightly-right party.
But it's not going to happen just with Trump.
That would be a more interesting and preferable direction for the party as opposed to now.
I just hope that the GOP doesn't become rabidly protectionist.
