Does anyone speak Irish? Maybe you could translate it into English.

It's an old clip, comes from about 10 years ago. The guy is actually speaking English, but comes from rural West Kerry, whose people are known to have a very think distinct accent even by other Irish people. Someone in the comments there actually gives a pretty good transcript of what he says

Quote
Of a night, there'd be a full moon there of a night, and sure twould (it would) be bright out, and there could anybody go up on the mountains of a night sure! Well, there was 45 sheep missing like, and the lambs and everything, and the sheep does count out to a nice bit of money like! What can be done about it? Nothing! I'm missing about 10 ewes! It's not all that difficult! All you've got to do is have a good dog! Have a good dog, and go at night, and moonshine light! Just put the dog around them, put them on a trailer, or walk them! And then, probably someone else to pick them up!

If you want another good example of a West Kerry accent, here's their most famous politicians, the Healy-Rae brothers in an interview - the interviewer btw is Ryan Tubridy, the much maligned (following a scandal in which it was disclosed he was received secret payments on top of his already hefty salary) former host of the Late Late Show, who comes from a totally different end of Irish society (a Dublin elite family with several politicians).

The second guy is speaking Irish at the very beginning (not during the interview) and I would guess that both are second-language speakers of English.

How many people have Irish as their *first* language these days?

I would imagine a fair amount of couples where both parents are Irish-speakers raise their child with that as the language of the home. But in practice those children will almost all be bilingual from an early enough age that it makes little difference which one was first.
