For clarity's sake the title can be changed to A Resolution addressing Climate Change.

I will speak on the specifics later this evening.

This is a very clear and concise proposal that would express the Senate's support for the upcoming global climate talks and place the Senate at the center of any agreed-to proposals.

I ask for unanimous consent that the 72 hour debate period be waved.

This resolution has enough votes to pass.
Senators have 24 hours to change/add their votes.

Abstain. I don't see a whole lot of point to the resolution.

I share the concern about the resolution being pointless, however it asserts the need for multilateral solutions to the climate change issue and that is the only approach that has any hope of success. It would therefore guide the administration on what the Senate deems acceptable.

The President has been unshakeably in favor of fighting climate change. Our law books are filled to the brim with pro-climate legislation. I think the message from our nation is very clear, and has been so for years. I think the world has received the message very clearly. Make no mistake, I believe we should be fighting climate change, I just agree with the Southern Senator's questioning of this resolutions necessity.

Indeed, I do not think any of us doubt President bore's (or really any Atlasian President) commitment to leading on climate issues. There has long been a strong consensus in our nation's discourse on the need to deal with these issues.
