The question is if Donovan runs, will the type of voter backlash from the African-American community in Staten Island from the Garner Case cost him the race?

The seat is probably Leans R.

Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights, and Bensonhurst is part of the district, those neighborhoods are  very conservative too, so the Democrat may not win this seat. If Donovan becomes controversial the Staten Island and Brooklyn GOP could have picked state Sen. Martin Golden (R - Bay Ridge).

If Gentile is the Democratic nominee, I don't even think he can win Bay Ridge or Bensonhurst, let alone some areas in Staten Island.

Donovan will win only if the Democrats bring back McMahon. If Councilman Vincent Gentile (D-Bay Ridge-Bensonhurst-Dyker Heights) is the nominee, Donovan will win by 10-15 points. He'll even win Bay Ridge.

NYC Councilman Vincent Gentile is the Staten Island Democrats' pick to be the Democratic nominee for the NY-11 seat on May 5, 2015.

GOP candidate Daniel Donovan is fundraising off Al Sharpton and the Occupy Wall Street crowd.

Vincent Gentile's campaign accuses Donovan of having ties to the KKK.

Congrats, Congressman-elect Dan Donovan. How long do you see him in Congress?
