Yep. A former NRA member, so she's really too libertarian for my tastes, to. She's more of a spokesperson for the ACLU than anything else (the same group that thinks gun control violates privacy and civil liberties), so if Collins does step down in 2020, hopefully we can get someone like Mike Michaud to run who can appeal to others besides lefties.
Narrow FF regardless because I agree with her on most other things besides guns and drugs.
Gun control does violate the right to privacy and civil liberties. The fact that the ACLU understands that and you don't speaks volumes about your understanding of and support for civil liberties, as does the fact that you're criticizing the ACLU. It's kind of weird that you'd want someone to run who can appeal to others 'besides lefties' given the fact that you've described yourself as a socialist in the past (something that I would strongly take issue with, given your rampant apologism for and support for the Democratic Party). Or does 'muh gun safety' and 'muh reefer madness' override all other issues in your book?
I'm fully aware as to what a civil liberty is and my government teacher defines it as what the government cannot do to you. Gun control doesn't violate that because the government isn't unconstitutionally intervening to ban guns, but rather exercising their rightful authority to implement common sense regulations like limiting the number of high capacity magazines allowed at a time, banning assault weapons, and keeping arms out of the hands of the mentally ill to reduce gun violence while still recognizing the Second Amendment. Americans have proven they can't be trusted with firearms and abuse the 2nd Amendment more than the govt does. It says people have the right "to keep and bear arms" which first of all doesn't mean that you can actually use the firearm (just that you can keep it and hold it in its literal sense), but it certainly doesn't mean either that they can go hog wild killing all the deer and children in sight.
And yeah, I did used to identify with the democratic socialists, but I've shifted to the right a little bit ever since. I find it odd how you're questioning me on this though when you yourself identify as a socialist, yet would vote for freaking Alan Keyes over Barack Obama because "Obama wants to take muh guns and his healthcare system isn't liberal enough!"
