Definitely country. I still believe there's a correlation between sh**tty rap music going mainstream in the 2000s/2010s and the rise in violent crime. When all the music young people listens to talks about killing people and selling dope it normalizes these behaviors. Country music meanwhile tells a story and teaches more acceptable values, like respecting your elders, being patriotic, etc.
Moral posturing aside I still appreciate the art form certain early rap artists presented in their work (NWA, Snoop/Dre, Eminem) vs the modern day autotuned mumble garbage.
"Cocaine Blues" is just as or more violent a song as anything I've ever heard from rap, and indeed Snoop cites Johnny Cash as an influence. In some ways he's the OG "gangsta rapper."
The idea that music causes crime is ridiculous and always has been. A correlation between the type of music one listens to and their predisposition to criminality MAY exist, but that does NOT imply causation.
