Was saddened to learn of Howard Kaplan's passing.  His son is a neighbor of mine.

And I suspect York Centre won't elect a like-minded trustee to replace him.

I believe Neethan is the only candidate who lives in the riding, so that may help him.

I don't think people really care about riding boundaries much.

It'll be interesting to compare the federal and provincial vote share for the Liberals in Vanier.

Mike Thomas holds hard right views on policing and was a member of the PCs less than a year ago.

Sounds like a real catch for the NDP!

Really not a surprise.

Niagara West is a very safe conservative seat with a large Dutch Canadian/religious conservative element.

Ottawa-Vanier is about as safe a seat for the Liberals as St. Paul's.

There are virtually no secular Jews in Outremont.  The Mile End and Outremont were the heart of Jewish Montreal until the 1950s - then the bulk of the pre-war Jewish community moved out. Hasidic Jews moved in and today the Jewish population in Outremont is almost entirely Hasidic.

Outremont is basically: 1) francophone professionals and intellectuals and 2.) Hasidic Jews.
