Did someone mention this upthread... she's married to a woman and will be Oklahoma's first LGBT legislator.

31 votes. Well, as I said just a couple posts ago - it's not the closest race currently outstanding nationally, but it is close.

Just knowing this fact, plus the fact that her opponent was undoubtedly a typical, that is to say God awful, Oklahoma Republican, makes me happy with this result. Smiley

Oh no! I'm happy there's diversity in redneck land rather than another Bible basher Republican in an overwhelmingly Republican state senate! I'm obviously not a real Republican after all!

To be fair Badger, it does seem like you're rooting for Democrats 90% of the time. Lol

False.

Al McAffrey is gay and was State Rep 2007-2012 and State Sen 2012-2015.
Kay Floyd is lesbian and was State Rep 2012-2015 and is state senator since 2015 (she in fact always succeeded him).

He is. Badger is that 1% of "Republicans" who always vote D in the exit polls lol

I definitely wouldn't say always. Though in the age of trump it's hard to give a support to Federal candidates. I voted close to a straight Republican ticket in 2014

I'm surprised Albuquerque had a Republican mayor to begin with.

Not only did they have a Republican mayor, they had one for over a decade.
