Quote
Ms. Filler-Corn told them that she would happily bring them back to Richmond but that Mr. Saslaw was strident in his opposition, according to several delegates who participated in the call. Ms. Filler-Corn, in a statement issued by her spokeswoman, said there was “no consensus” among the state’s Democrats about convening before Mr. Youngkin’s inauguration.

Now that he doesn't have to worry about winning an election (since VA governors can't run for consecutive terms), he's got no reason not to.

Saslaw is the same idiot who pushed to pass the bill to put the independent redistricting commission on the ballot.  I swear that this guy is getting paid off by Republicans.

Dick Saslaw is a a de facto DINO.  I thought this was common knowledge?

Why is this important? Isn't the VA senate still Democratic, and thus Youngkin and the Assembly would be unable to pass any legislation limiting abortion rights?

Irrelevant, even if true, and that's a big if. When SCOTUS outlaws abortion in the near future, Virginia will need an affirmative right established in law.

Better question is to ask why didn’t they pass it all the last two years when other states have done so

State NARAL said it wasn't important and they should focus on other matters, and legislative Dems listened to them.
