Why do I have the feeling his whole Congressional career was just a prank that was meant to be turned into a YouTube video from the start?

I for one would love for Santos to spill all the dirt he has on his way out.

Thank you for that excellent summation of Mr. Santos' career in politics.

George Santos should consider an independent run for the Presidency, it may be the only way to clear his name.

I'm sure millions of patriotic Americans would stand with him. Perot numbers, at least.

I have come to believe that through deep reflection on the life of George Santos, a life that was exceptional in many respects, we may be able to find the true meaning in our lives as well. This Christmas season, I plan to meditate regularly as I explore my feelings unironically about George Santos's life & career.

It's very impressive that he served in the civil war since he also fought for Joan of Arc.

If only that were the case. The truth is much simpler, and worse. Santos' old roommate in some article I read was quoted as saying that Santos wanted to fake his way through two congressional terms. Why two terms/four years? B/c once someone has served in Congress for four years, that's when they become eligible for a pension. He's a huckster. It's that simple.

Don't you need 5 years of service to be eligible for a congressional pension. It's why Giffords resigned in 2012. Had she resigned earlier she would not have received anything.

Still believe the voters should have been given the right to get rid of him. How fair is it to them that representatives from OTHER states decide their guy needs to go. Just run a special or something?

There will be a special election to replace him.

Correct on both points. And in fact his constituents can vote Santos back into office as the example of Adam Clayton Powell demonstrated.

He wasn't expelled. During WW2, the Japanese Diet expelled Saitō Takao for being anti-war, and he managed to get elected again in 1942. It's hilarious how authoritarian Japan was and yet they didn't bother to rig that election.

He was only the sixth person to be expelled from the House.  Coincidentally, the other five were also George Santos.

George Santos ran as a person who doesn't exist solely to appeal to donors for personal financial gain. Him being in office was a disservice to his constituents - much in the same way Bob Menendez is (and it's disgraceful that he won't be expelled or resign).

Also I think this created one is pretty good:

Quote
Peter: Hey Lois, remember that time I met George Santos?

Lois: Peter, you mean that former Republican Congressman from New York who lied and made up almost his entire resume and then ran into legal issues and got indicted and then was expelled by the House becoming the first Republican and youngest person in history to be expelled from the House?

[Cut to a flashback scene with Peter at a political event, shaking hands with a man in a suit, who bears a striking resemblance to George Santos.]

Peter: (excitedly) Lois, this guy says he's a former Congressman! Can you believe it? I'm gonna be friends with a real-life politician!

[Cut back to the present.]

Lois: (skeptical) Peter, are you sure this is a good idea?

[Cut back to the flashback, where Peter and "George Santos" are bonding over ridiculous stories.]

Peter: (laughing) And then he told me he once wrestled a grizzly bear with his bare hands!

[Cut to Lois raising an eyebrow in disbelief.]

Lois: Peter, that sounds made up.

[Cut back to the flashback, where Peter and "George Santos" are participating in a pie-eating contest.]

Peter: (with a mouth full of pie) Lois, this guy is amazing! He said he can solve the national debt by selling chocolate-covered broccoli to aliens!

[Cut to Lois facepalming in the present.]

Lois: Peter, that's absurd. Did you fact-check any of this?

[Cut back to the flashback, where Peter and "George Santos" are dressed as superheroes and attempting to fight crime.]

Peter: (in a superhero costume) Lois, meet my new crime-fighting buddy, Captain Embellishment!

[Cut back to the present, where Lois looks at Peter with a mix of amusement and frustration.]

Lois: (sarcastically) Oh, great. You're friends with the superhero of tall tales.

[Cut to a scene of Peter and "George Santos" getting chased by the FBI.]

Peter: (panicking) Lois, remember that time we got involved in a high-speed chase with the FBI?

[Cut to Lois shaking her head.]

Lois: Peter, I told you this was a bad idea.

[Cut to a final scene of Peter and "George Santos" being tackled by agents as they protest their innocence.]

Peter: (shouting) Lois, tell them we're innocent! Captain Embellishment never lies!

[Cut back to the present, with Lois rolling her eyes.]

Lois: (exasperated) Peter, let's just stick to hanging out with people who don't have a rap sheet.
