The only way for the south to rise is to get beyond racism, not go back to it.

Others have voted for Zebulon Vance as well.  Why single me out?

Besides, I don't believe these comments are appropriate for the voting booth.  However, because some people wish to defame candidates even in the voting booth, as well as voters' choices (which really are supposed to be anonymous but cannot be for security's sake), I am forced to defend myself.

I must admit that I do agree with Harry more on the issues, but I do not feel that the Governor has any power to influence policy (and certainly not to bring about "segregationist" policy that would violate both public opinion as well as the Constitution).  I have voted for Harry in the past as well as voted for others over StatesRights because of the positions of the candidates.  However, these votes were for Senate, where ideology does make a difference.  However, for Governor, I choose the strongest leader, since all policy must be approved by the voters.

I consider myself among the most progressive of Southerners.  While I may have voted for someone with whom I disagree on certain issues, I nonetheless believe that he will make a fine leader.  The Governor's stances on policy will be regulated by the citizens of the region.

In the future, I hope the voting booth can remain neutral ground.
