Yeah, the guy touched on that in his latest update:

I dont see why Hochul wouldnt run for a full term. She'd likely get it.

Hochul would run, and I say a crowd of probably 5-10 candidates as well.

Alessandra Biaggi, Tish James, Jamaal Bowman, Ritchie Torres, Byron Brown, Tim Kennedy, Sean Patrick Maloney, Max Rose, AOC, Chuck Schumer, Hillary, Lindsey Boylan, all have a reason why running for Governor makes sense; on top of NY being a pretty attractive state right now for a post-COVID recovery and the inevitable legalization of sports gambling and marijuana.

My leading bet right now:

No Cuomo resignation, but by May he announces he will not be running in 2022.

Byron Brown wins the primary, given the challenge he's facing right now from DSA and Working Families-endorsed India Walton (who will go on to become Mayor of Buffalo), and Brown goes on to face Janice Dean in the general. Kathy Hochul remains Lieutenant Governor, and Tish James remains NY AG but will face a challenge from a progressive.

Brown, Hochul, and James all go on to win and develop post-COVID NY similarly to how Brown did Buffalo post-recession; likely with help of NYC Mayor Andrew Yang.

I don't think it would be that many people. Why Brown?

Hochul can't run for governor and then be chosen as Lt. Governor. The primaries are separate.

I don't think it'll be that many people that I listed as well, but just pick about 5 of them for starters.

Most Buffalo mayoral races are pretty dead and boring. India Walton, on top of being endorsed by WFP and the DSA, is gaining a good amount of social media traction from my on-the-ground following of the race. By far the strongest opponent Brown has had to face yet in his years of campaigning.

If Cuomo steps aside, Brown has massive networking resources with Dems all across the state, all the way to the DNC even.

From Brown's perspective, you avoid the June primary loss and run for the higher office. He's only been Mayor of Buffalo for 15 years, and unlike Tish James (who I see as having a reverse-Kathy Hochul problem; her perceived role in the nursing home scandal/COVID shutdowns is not very positive here in WNY), I think he'll be the best balance between WNY/Upstate/NYC voters.

As for Hochul, I see her running or flirting with the idea, but likely dropping out before the primary as well. I don't see her doing well outside of Western/Upstate NY.

Working Families Party wants Cuomo out.

I had my doubts when the DSA and other lefties started talking, but the WFP is essentially a caucus of the NY Democratic Party.

It's all just a matter of time.

New York State Young Democrats calls for Cuomo's resignation.

This strikes me as pretty significant. Is there actually a chance of Cuomo resigning?

NYSYD is a direct subsidiary of the State party, so I'm going to say yes. Chances are going up by the hour at this point.

That, or this State party will break into a civil war over the issue of renominating a sexual predator.

Cuomo has been stripped of his COVID emergency authorization powers.

That's what we said last time, albeit legislative leadership has now finally drawn its line in the sand - at least in terms of the sexual harassment allegations - as to what it'll take (just 1 more) for them to push him out:

The NY Democratic Party has a habit of sticking up for sexual creeps all the way to criminals, but I just have a gut feeling that being a sexual creep AND allowing your aides to alter nursing home death statistics to save face politically (during the worst pandemic in recent human history) will put him over the edge.

That or Jay Jacobs really doesn't care if this state flips red. My money is seriously shifting to the GOP candidate pulling off a massive upset.

Jay Jacobs will stick by Cuomo to the very end. He's the most loyal Cuomo hack. It will be the legislative leaders who end this, if anyone.

Someone needs to, or (insert as horrible of a candidate as Nick Langworthy wants to run) will be our next Governor.

I'm predicting Janice Dean, ESPECIALLY after this reveal, but Zeldin might jump on the opportunity given how easy of a win it'd be.

Do you think NY can flip red in 2022, despite it being a Biden midterm? Who can win out of the NYGOP? Randy Levine? Malliotakis?

Mike Carpinelli and Derrick Gibson are nobodies if still running at all.

Rep. Lee Zeldin and Rep. Tom Reed have expressed interest, but I don't see them forfeiting House seats and worsening the GOP's challenge of taking back the House just to get a one-up on Cuomo. Likewise with Rep. Elise Stefanik.

The moment would be really good for Chris Gibson or Harry Wilson, however. I don't think they're the strongest candidates, but, I could see them potentially flipping it.

Janice Dean, however, is the perfect candidate. A woman (post-sexual harassment allegations) who was directly affected by the nursing home scandal? All she has to do is calm the Fox News rhetoric a bit and run as a centrist, and my money is with her.

Zeldin can't win.....he'd supercharge Black and Latino turnout----Dean is too Karenish, it has to be someone who can win both wings of the GOP and appeal to Black and Latino voters--Dean, Zeldin don't think police brutality is a thing

Calling it now - NYGOP will be running 30-second ads of Dean telling her story about the nursing home family member death over some sad music, and that will win people over. She brings herself to the center and disavows some of the Fox News rhetoric she pushes? That's a candidate that can beat Cuomo.

Cuomo originally ran for governor in 2002---the 9/11 attacks stunted his momentum---he dropped out a week before the Sept. 2002 primary because he did not want to have a racialist primary against then-state Controller Carl McCall, who is Black.

Jeanine Pirro must be going off tonight---Cuomo beat Pirro in the 2006 AG race.

Holy s*** how did I not know this lmao

I think this was in the Washington Post expose that just got posted. I don't think the Daily Mail actually broke the story.

Daily Mail or not, it's time for this guy to get the hell out.

Also, just said the same thing in the relevant USGD megathread, but can please we get a thread title change to "RESIGNATION WATCH: Leadership Turns on Cuomo" or something along those lines here too, since that now finally appears to be the point which we're at.

In further proof that Cuomo has learned absolutely nothing, he's now threatening members of the legislature who call for his resignation.

(The deal here is that investigations into NY senators is handled by JCOPE, which only releases details once material evidence emerges in support of prosecution.)
Wonder what his father would make of all this

Misogyny and avoiding responsibility for personal faults runs in the Cuomo family, so I won't be surprised if he launches an all-out-assault against Biaggi and others tonight.
