Trump is planting a seed in everyone's mind. What he said is 100% true and the more the media report on this "outrageous gaffe", the more that seed will blossom.

If Hillary Clinton was Hank Rodham, Bernie Sanders would be the next President.

I don't entirely agree with this article, but it does a pretty good job making the opposite case: http://www.alternet.org/election-2016/if-bernie-had-been-bernadette.

I don't think it does. Feminist persecution complex aside, if Bernadette Sanders had the "lovable socialist grandmom" persona instead of the "lovable socialist grandpa" persona, I don't think she'd be doing worse. Hell, she probably would win the nominee.

Does anyone think the Democrats would nominate a guy with Hillary Clinton's record at this time? If Hillary Clinton was Hugh Rodham, a friend and senior adviser to Governor and President Bill Clinton who went on to serve as Senator from New York and Secretary of State, would this individual do as well right now?

Let's not even get to the fact that Hugh Rodman wouldn't have been a Senator from New York or a Secretary of State.

If Hillary Clinton was Hank Rodham, Bernie Sanders would be the next President.

If it were Hank Rodham, my hunch is that the whole field would have looked different.  Quite possible that another woman would have decided to run if there wasn't already one in the race.

Maybe imagine if she faced down Bernadette Sanders?

Not defending Trump at all, but I have to admit that I usually turn down the volume on Hillary speeches because it literally hurts my ears...  It's not a woman thing.  It's a Hillary thing.

Agreed. Hillary can be a bit shrill.

I think Hillary definitely overcompensates when she speaks in order to appear tough and avoid charges of being weak or unable to lead - I'll admit that it is more challenging for a woman, especially an older one, to run for office in light of achieving this balance.  Hillary does it especially poorly though.

I actually don't get the shrill complaints. I've seen Hillary speeches with other people - including center-left moderates, and they immediately volunteer how much they hate Hillary and her speeches. I never found her shrill and I always found her on-point, speaking well about issues that I often think are pretty appealing. She's one of only two candidates I've met in any capacity besides brief campaign handshaking - and she's likeable: in the words of Obama, "likable enough."

Now, I still hate everything she stands for, a corporatist Wall Street SJW fad-driven agenda of Bill Clinton (who I DO hate), but she's more likeable than Obama.
