What's up with the eastern panhandle-panhandle?
Didn't know that this is a Democratic stronghold within WV.

Could you do a map for the 2014 senatorial election in that state? I wonder if the map would look the same.

The eastern panhandle is being increasingly influenced by NOVA. Actually, I can see Capito flipping those red districts, as she represented them in Congress. OTOH, most of the southern districts would probably be a shade or so lighter blue.

This may be part of it, but the area is actually more Democratic than the adjacent parts of VA and MD, so I'm not sure it's the whole story. Another issue is that there is a lot of federal office employment in this area - the IRS has a big processing centre in Martinsburg, and one of the main National Parks offices is in Harpers Ferry.
