If the announcement is going to be made on Friday, why would I bet for it on Saturday?

The Early Show needs to get Obama to announce the VP in their interview before CBS News goes belly-up from low ratings and no advertisers.

George Stephanopulos sez VP will be recognizable
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/08/stephanopulos-o.html

"If you listen to Barack Obama and the people around him, they certainly seem to be signaling that the choice will be someone who has instantly recognizable national security experience," Stephanopoulos said. " That means Joe Biden. Maybe Evan Bayh. Not Tim Kaine of Virginia. And maybe even the big surprise, you know, someone like Hillary Clinton or Al Gore."

That settles it: Tim Kaine is the pick.

Same AP article as above: Clinton scheduled to visit the New York State Fair Friday.

Is the Republican Mayor of Oklahoma City going to give a speech there?

Ray Mabus is campaigning for Obama in rural Pennsylvania right now.

Many loony people already consider Obama to be the anti-christ.  Selecting somebody with the last name of "Mabus" wouldn't help (see Nostradamus).

It often seems like that, E.  But what's the history?  How many from the pool of Edwards, Cheney,
Lieberman, Kemp, Gore, Quayle, Bentsen and so forth were "finalists"?

Cheney and Edwards were both finalists I remember.  I think Bentsen might've been a surprise pick.
