I think people here are overestimating how much rapt attention others are giving this...

Possibly the most intelligent thing anyone has said about the whole matter.  WE care.  But most Americans are -- at best -- casually interested.
And there faint interest continues to wane as they wait

I am currently sitting in a building with a number of people who are interested in politics and they are all partying.

I can't quite work out whether this delay is a stroke of genius or an awful, hubris-born error.

I think the longer he waits the more Bayh's chances decrease...

Sigh.  Time to do some chores.

You guys are great!  No, seriously.  The only reason I'm even watching this on the Atlas is because I've been waiting for a chance to do laundry since noon.  I'm having trouble getting excited, and look how many freaking posts I have.

"Awful...error."  "Obama blew it."  How many permanent polling points did he just miss out on?  Five?  Ten?  Has his campaign died because he misses one day of non-questioning coverage?  No, sorry--because of a 24-hour delay, and potential slight smothering in the folds of the news cycle.

Meanwhile, America is mostly trying to decide between Burger King and McDonald's, and ready to set in for a weekend of pretending they already knew who Joe Biden/Evan Bayh/whoever was.  Is it a screw-up relative to what could have been?  Maybe.  And I guess in that sense he "blew it," but let's not seriously pretend we'll be thinking about this in a month.

That said, I'm 70% sure it's Biden.

"Sources" are not necessarily that reliable.

Biden's chances grow by the minute in my book though.

it's down to Edwards and Biden most likely.

10% chance of Gore, Clinton, or Sebelius.

Another chartered flight to Delaware has been added, I think.

Not sure if I really understand what this means though, but Ambinder just posted it on Twitter.

If we can trust MSNBC, then I have to say Biden is the one. I am very very thankful now that I did not sign up for the text message because I have a feeling they will bother a lot of people on the west coast by announcing around 12pm est. I will set my alarm for 11 and get up in time for the speech. Total surprise, should be good.

He had a chance for the national news on a week day.  He missed that chance.

I'll agree with your assessment of Biden, but he is an unexciting candidate and a potential loose cannon.  Bad move all the way around; we see if McCain can do better.

Not a task of incredible difficulty.
