Left wing liberal? Don't really know... Unitarian perhaps?

Remove the word "liberal" and questions over certain wedge issues, and you might be suprised at some of the answers Smiley

but Aren't the Quakers really socially conservative??

No. Most Quakers are somewhat traditionalist on certain wedge issues, but I don't really see what that has to do with anything.
Unless Pacifism is a conservative belief.

Are there any religions out there that DON'T find something wrong with homosexuals?

Most of them actually. Most also have a problem with homosexual sex though.

In my mind, they are one and the same.

In practice it's often turned out like that. But it doesn't seem to have been the case orginally; homosexuality is not mentioned once in the Bible.
Intererestingly, while homosexual sex is mentioned a handful of times, it's not singled out for special treatment; even Leviticus (which contains some very... er... "unusual"... laws that probably made perfect sense for a Nomadic society, but not an urbanised one. There's a lot of stuff about mildew) where it's part of a long list of proscribed sexual activities.
Even the recommend punishment (death) isn't especially draconian for Leviticus; having sex with the wife of your neighbour is also apparently punishable by death.

Bearing all that in mind (and the fact that there's a bit of a debate over how relavent the Old Testament should be for Christians anyway, certainly the other laws in Leviticus (IMO the worst written and dullest part of the Bible) aren't followed by Christians) there's been far, far too much attention on homosexuality by certain churches.

Fair point, but on what authority do they damn homosexuals to hell? It's not in the Bible (which is usually very clear about what things get you sent down their) and I don't think that preachers have the authority to declare what is and isn't a hell-worthy offense.

Read the book of Romans sometime Al. It does specifically condemn homosexual acts.

...as part of one of his [Paul's] general rants about sexual immorality. Most of what he said on that subject is ignored by most churches (not to say that should be the case, but to say that some consistency on this subject would be helpful) even the ones he was writing to.
He seems to have based his views on sexulity on Leviticus, btw.
