Barack Obama.

I'll never force myself to vote for Hillary Clinton in the general election either.
Ironically, you were one of the people who thought that I should support Lamont just because he was the Democratic nominee...

I think I'm going to switch my support from Richardson toward someone who has a chance, like Obama.

Richardson still has a chance. The campaign doesn't start in earnest until tomorrow. Last year at this time, Lieberman was still ahead in the polls.

true, but as of now, Richardson does not look like such a good horse to bet on, based on debate performance.

I am not backing anyone.  As I have said before, out of the candidates running, I would support Giuliani over the others and then Biden over the rest of the others.  I would likewise support either Huckabee or Richardson if they win the nomination.  With everyone else, it is likely a vote against the other candidate.  Tongue

I would love for Gore to be president but it doesnt look like he's going to run. Edwards looks promising and he's great on the issues. Clinton would come next but I don't want her to be moderate. Richardson then Dodd/Biden. Then Obama. He doesnt have the experience to be POTUS and I don't like his holier than thou persona, major turn off. He can't use the "you voted for Iraq" schpiel either. He voted for funding and he didn't get the classified reports the senate got, although the likes of Corzine and Graham knew better. However, Iraq isn't the reason he's low on my list, mostly his holier than thou and experience.

Giuliani. Among other things, as you can see from my political matrix, he is a good ideological fit for me. However, within limits, I tend to downgrade ideological factors when making choices for president. In this case, I just don't see any other GOP nominee really being in the hunt to beat Clinton, who will be the favorite to win, even running against Rudy, by a bit.

By the way, I might be one of those few Republicans that is not an inveterate hater of the Clintons. Imagine that! Smiley

My party loyalty has taken a hit since then for several reasons.

Obama if he wins his party's nomination.  Paul or Huckabee if either of them wins their party's nomination.  Libertarian if it comes down to Hillary versus McCain or Giuliani.

I haven't decided yet. It's more a process of elimination than being enthusiastic about a candidate. Since the debates began, Clinton and Biden have gone up in my estimation, Edwards has stayed about the same, and Obama and Richardson have gone down (Obama way down). None of the others have a chance, so it really doesn't matter what they do anyway. All of the Republicans except possibly Huckabee have gone down in my estimation.
