apparently I'm very bad at math, then

Well here's a simple example. You start out leading by 2 votes to 1. That's 67% to 33%. Then 2000 votes come in and now the tally is 1003 (you) to 1000 (opponent). Your lead just tripled but  now it's 50% to 50%. That's an extreme example, but that's how it goes.

I'd love if McCain won here though. Hannity and Rush and all of the conservative commentators really dislike McCain and question if he can win the base, so I’ll be glad to see their ego’s suffer a huge blow tonight.

In all fairness, McCain is the closest to Bush's position on immigration among the current GOP candidates.  I don't much care for McCain, but I have to say that other than George Bush and me, he's the only Republican who hasn't bought into this xenophobic trend sweeping the Republican Party.  Still, as a practical matter, that won't endear him to any Republicans.  Either they're rabidly anti-immigrant, or like me they're okay with more liberal immigration law, but have other reasons to loathe him.

I still think Huckabee can win. All that he needs is more good results from Spartanburg, and Greenville to vote for him by a good margin.

61% reporting

McCain still by three - 33-30.

One coastal county (the one with Mrtyle Beach) still hasn't reported. MCain won all coastal counties in 2000.

While I agree seeing conservatives getting pwned is good for everyone, I still don't think McCain's got this one like he wants it.

The race is probably his, but the momentum is Huckabee's. He's made more strides in SC than McCain has and with the next set of states being what they are (places where McCain isn't going to do well) it's not likely the bounce that McCain might get from SC will matter much. The nomination is probably still going to be a Romney/Huckabee thing, but McCain has cards left to play. We'll have to wait and see.
