As I've said before Pres Mike I'm almost always fully in agreement on in regards to this even though I've really disagreed with him a lot on other issues. But on this one he's great.

Also Ferguson who also seems to be capable of being condemning of both Hamas and Israel's response and never an apologist for either.

Pres Mike and increasingly Modern Bourbon Democrat, whom I never thought I'd agree with on anything. I'm anti-Hamas but far less sympathetic to Israel than I was in October, that's for sure. And that sympathy is still waning.

Yeah I know this sounds gay and sh!t but Israelis and Palestinians are all human beings and children of God. The only thing that separates them is manmade lines on a map. Hating either people because of what their government does is as senseless and bigoted as hating all Russians or Russian culture because of their government's acts of aggression.

I think most people on this site are fairly sane/normal about this issue. The only users I take issue with are those who think that because the "Grand Mufti" said something antisemitic 80 years ago, Israel gets a free pass to blow up women and children.

My views can broadly be summed up as

- Israel has a right to exist.

- The incumbent government of Israel is, at best, indifferent to the lives of Palestinians, and at worst, actively wants to kill them.

- 10/7 was an evil act of terrorism.

- Israel’s response to that attack has been wildly disproportionate, and their actions clearly meet the definition of war crimes.

- Palestine has a right to exist.

- Western activists generally care more their own egos and social status than they do about Palestinian lives.

I think like 85% of the forum can agree to that, it’s just a loud minority of psychos who make the discourse toxic.

There are both many pro-Israel leaning, and pro-Palestine leaning posters whom I've agreed with. It's a very complicated, nuanced issue for me. And I kind of wish I didn't care, though as a Jew, I do have a dog in this fight of sorts. And even with that, this conflict overall has kind of pushed me slightly more in the pro-Israel direction, honestly. I've found it more difficult to want to associate with sone pro-Palestinian advocates, just as much as I wouldn't want anything to do with Likud supporters. Though I do wonder where I'd be if I wasn't of Jewish descent.

I generally agree with almost everything you've said. Really, the only disagreement I have is that I don't believe that the current Israeli government is indifferent at best to the lives of Palestinian civilians. I think that at best they actively want them all dead and at worst, they're prepared to actually do it.
