President Obama runs slightly ahead of Mitt Romney and dead even with Rick Santorum in Rasmussen Reports’ first Election 2012 look at the key battleground state of Ohio.
A new telephone survey of Likely Voters in the state finds Obama earning 45% support to Romney’s 41%.

If these numbers are correct then Ohio is still slightly toward the GOP compared to the nation as a whole.. can't see the actual numbers for Obama/Santorum.

Ohio should be very close this year.

With a non competetive senate race we should do very well in our house races as a whole with key pickups with the return of Mary Jo Kilroy.

The problem for the Democrats is that the map is drawn with no swing seats. Ohio's House Delegation will almost certainly go from 13-5 Republican to 12-4 Republican. The Dem's best chance of a fifth seat is probably a Charlie Wilson comeback in OH-6 except that OH-6 is now an R+7 PVI seat.

You will get Kilroy back though, unless she loses the primary to Mayor Coleman.

Obama does not need OH to win re-election.

Please note that these results align themselves almost perfectly with Rasmussen's recent national numbers for Obama v. Romney and Obama v. Santorum.

Strike three. Romney loses the electability argument.
