I could've sworn I had deja vu, since I saw another OC thread with this exact same thread title, and I posted in it. And apparently, I was right: OC made two threads, in two different boards, on the same day and with the same title. I posted in the other thread.

Reminds me of a guy who keeps asking a girl to go out on a date with him, and she keeps saying "no".

What part of "no" don't people understand? Newsom might not be the most likeable guy in politics, but he's good at what he does, and he's honest with people. If he says he's not running...don't keep asking the girl for a date...it ain't gonna happen.

Anybody who thinks this means anything, is absolutely gullible. Remember what Obama said when asked about a run for president in '08? You can say no right now, and then announce you're running later anyway, concocting some excuse or another. So yeah, it's quite possible Newsom means this, but it's also very possible this is just his answer to avoid too much attention or too many questions for now. And I'm going to take this with a grain of salt - this hardly means there's no chance he's running. And we should hardly rule him out of the 2024 contest. He might not run, yes, but he might choose to run as well, despite this meaningless statement.
