Let say Rockefeller managed despite his massive problems to deny nomination to Goldwater, choosing his close ally, Arizona Governor Paul J. Fannin, as his running-mate to at least please goldwaterited a little.

On the Democratic side without changes except Johnson selecting Senator Albert Gore, Sr. of Tennessee instead of HHH (as in this scenario Gore did not voted against Civil Rights Act of 1964).

I still would say Johnson massive win, but Rockefeller performing better than Barry.

Discuss with maps.

Choosing Gore turns the Democratic ticket into a Southern regional ticket, minus the Deep South due to civil rights support. Rockefeller sweeps every other region.

Johnson/Gore 119
Rockefeller/Fannin 372
Unpledged Electors 47

With LBJ popuylarity and after JFK assassination?

Are you drunk?
