It's a gorgeous day... 74˚F with only a hint of a breeze with vivid blue skies... the leaves are beginning to change.. not a bad day to be alive.

Unfortunately the American Chestnut, once the largest hardwood in the eastern U.S. and one of the most prolific, is all but extinct in the wild.  All that remains are stump sprouts that are quickly killed by the blight before they can produce chestnuts.

Hopefully we can find a genetic cure for them soon!

It was a beautiful day again today... upper 70s and sunny with a light breeze.. but it's getting dark so early now!  This is what I hate about fall... the fact that it gets dark so early... especially if the weather has been nice.
