I also oppose it, but the last post gives a fairly weak argument.  I don't think many sane people would actually want to work for $1 an hour.  Most people who oppose it do so to protect the employers' own concerns, not the employees.

Ah, ok.  As its a second job, that's fair enough.  I was referring more to people who would only have that job to rely on.  I doubt any of them could consciously say they wanted to be paid $1 an hour.

I use money I saved when I was working full time the previous semester. No family contributions. I pay my own way.

Well okay then.  I was referring more to people who only have one job (and thereby one source of income) to rely on.  They're not likely to want to work for $1 an hour.

I should reiterate that I am against the minimum wage, by the way.
