In another time Zeldin would have been a good candidate. Coming from a area rich in votes and having experience winning a swing area.
Right now everything is ruled by partisanship. Zeldin can easily be tied to the national party and therefore is a bad candidate.
Cuomo can win just by running non-stop ads about his voting record and support of trump. Same way Newsom is making the recall all about Trump and national republican.

Seems really dubious that a court would intervene this deeply into the working of their legislature.

Even if a court ordered a full vote, does Hochul even have the votes?
With all republicans voting yes, Hochul still needs 11 democrats. Easy to imagine senators voting against LaSalle because of the lawsuit. Even if they normally had votes for his confirmation.

GOP state sen. Anthony Palumbo is suing Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins to force a full senate vote on LaSalle. This will be laughed out of court.
The only person who has standing would be Hochul.

If Palumbo thought Hochul would sue, he wouldn't have filed this suit. I would be surprised if Hochul would sue over this after waiting so long.
