No, not making this up. The "Citizen Hearing Committee" consists of the following members:
Sen. Mike Gravel (D-AK)
Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-CA)
Rep. Carolyn Kilpatrick (D-MI)
Rep. Darlene Hooley (D-OR)
Rep. Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD)
Rep. Merrill Cook (R-UT)
They will convene in the Ballroom of the National Press Club to officially commence "The Citizen Hearing on Disclosure of an Extraterrestrial Presence Engaging the Human Race," which will meet from April 29th to May 3rd to hear thirty hours of testimony from forty researchers and witnesses regarding any knowledge of, or experience with, an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race.
There will also be live webcasts in both English and Spanish which will include "interviews by former CNN News Anchor Cheryll Jones" who I don't think is actually a real person because she's not on Wikipedia not even as a redlink. In addition, The Citizen Hearing on Disclosure of an Extraterrestrial Presence Engaging the Human Race will also be recorded on video, so that a documentary can be made about these historic committee hearings.
While the committee is pretend, no effort will be spared in creating a genuine atmosphere:
The anonymous donor(s) who have organized this event will have spent approximately $600,000 by its conclusion; notably, these totals include a $20,000 salary for each of the members of the Citizen Hearing Committee.
Learn more at their website! You can see which wacky witnesses they have in store; guess which former legislators are senile, which need the cash, and which have nothing better to do so agreed to this out of boredom; or you could even try to figure out which book on the "resources" page contains the fewest facts!
