2004: Bush
2008: McCain
2012: Not sure
2016: Trump

1960- tough but Ill give it to Kennedy narrowly
1964- LBJ
1968- Wallace, but Nixon is 2nd
1972- Nixon obv
1976- Ford
1980- Reagan obv
1984- Reagan obv
1988- Bush Sr. very narrowly although neither candidates are "alpha males"
1992- Bush Sr.
1996- Clinton
2000- W Bush
2004- W Bush obv
2008- McCain
2012- Obama narrowly
2016- this shouldn't really count(only 1 male candidate) but Trump I would say
2020- Trump



It's funny that in many of these the actual military combat veteran is beaten by someone who wasn't (1964, 1972, 1996, 2000, 2004).
In 2004, there was an ad claiming that the veteran was a fake war hero.
